About Me
Over the last 25 years, I have worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor in a variety of clinical settings helping people with psychological difficulties including combat related issues, severe and persistent mental illness, cumulative relational trauma, clients needing acute inpatient psychiatric care, critical group incidents (bank robberies, natural disasters, etc), psychological struggles related to brain injury and difficulties related to interpersonal violence. I have been in private practice since 2002.
I grew up in Arvada but spent about 15 years after college living in the Colorado Springs area. I’m now back in my hometown living in a house that my grandfather built in 1940. In my free time, I enjoy reading, gardening, hiking and wresting my socks from my Corgi. I enjoy watching Anime shows with my daughter when she allows it.
Orientation
My orientation is depth psychological, which means I approach therapy as a process of understanding why certain patterns, emotions, or symptoms are present—not just how to manage or reduce them. Rather than focusing solely on coping strategies or behavioral change, I pay close attention to the deeper layers of experience: inner parts, recurring themes, dreams, emotions, and the ways meaning and identity unfold over time. This approach treats distress as something to be listened to and understood, not simply corrected.
Compared to more “regular” or skills-based therapies, depth-oriented work often moves at a reflective pace and is less focused on quick fixes. While symptom relief matters, the deeper aim is helping clients develop a more conscious relationship with their inner world, so changes arise from insight, integration, and alignment rather than pressure to function a certain way.
I am a BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ and gender affirming therapist.
